Rebecca Mullin
Designer
This blog is my online journal that I will continually update on a weekly basis to show my progress throughout both my metal and textile projects. It will show the process I go through as a designer: Inspirational boards, sketches, visual and market research, design stages, experimentations and samples, design sheets and final visuals. Within my blog I will also be discussing the samples that I have created, techniques that I have used, artists, designers and images that I have found visually interesting in relation to my work.
A bit about me...
I establish my visual inspirations from the environment around me, manipulation through printing processes. My interest for colour, texture and detail of fashion fabrics and jewellery are inspired by other designers and exhibitions.
My work focusses mainly on texture, colour and pattern to create innovative fabrics and jewellery designs. My aim is to create something different, something which breaks the boundaries and which immediately catches the eye of the observer.
Before attending University I completed a one year foundation degree, I mainly focussed on specialising in textiles and gained a National Diploma in Art and Design, triple distinction.
I currently study Design at Liverpool Hope University were I have chosen to specialise in textiles and metal. I enjoy working in two very different areas as it allows me to work with completely diverse materials and learn new and varied skills every day.
Art and design have always been a large part of my life and I could not picture myself doing anything else. I hope to eventually produce work that will inspire other designers, just as the designers of today inspire me.
